In this book, I have tried to give a picture of the early Upsala. This has been possible due to the large amount of material in the archive room of the Upsala library. Not merely are there the official records and copies of various documents and publications connected with the college, but numerous alumni have been so kind as to send me their impressions of their stay at the Kenilworth school. To them I wish to extend my thanks, especially as I believe it is this material that gives color to my narritive. I also wish to express my appreciation to Professors Roger Boraas, Donald McKee, and Dean Ritzman as well as Messrs. Frank Benitz and Mervin Wiener, who read the manuscript and gave me valuable suggestions. My debt to Professor A. M. Carlson I will indicate in the dedication. In addition, I wish to thank Dr. Carl Fjellman, who has allowed me access to all college records and complete freedom in my research and my writing. Last of all, I must acknowledge my appreciation to President Rodney Felder, who has sponsored the publication of this volume. Needless to say, I alone am responsible for any opinions or judgements expressed. |
